BREAKING: Democratic Congressman Jim Clyburn sounds the emergency alarm about Donald Trump threatening to run for an illegal third term: “That is exactly what he is planning to do.”

“Congressman, the president said that he was not joking about the notion of a possible third term in the White House, what do you think about that?” asked CNN’s John Berman.
“I don’t think he’s joking at all. I’ve been sounding that alarm since about 2017 when I first spoke out about that,” said Clyburn. “I could see the patterns developing and I said at the time right on this network, this man does not plan to leave this White House.”
Over the weekend, Trump told NBC News that he is “not joking” about a third term and claimed that there are “methods which you could do it.” Legally, it would require a Constitutional amendment but Trump isn’t know for his respect of the law.
“And that is exactly what he is planning to do,” Clyburn continued. “I saw the book written by General Martin Gary way back in 1876. And I’ve been telling people if you want to know what’s going on now, go back and see what happened in 1876 when Tilden and Hayes had their debacle and Hayes became President of the United States and how Jim Crow came into being.”
The election of 1876 was heavily disputed and was ultimately resolved when the so-called “Corrupt Bargain” was struck that resulted in the ascension of Rutherford B. Hayes to the White House in return for ending Reconstruction.
“And that’s why I’ve been calling Project 2025, Jim Crow 2.0. All of this is about suspending — if not eliminating — the Constitution of the United States and that’s the track we’re on,” said Clyburn.
“And I think people better get serious about this,” he went on. “When he says he’s not joking about throwing away the Constitution, which is what he’ll have to do in order to have a third term, and we are not going to rise up in opposition to that?”
“I think it’s time for us all to wake up,” he added.
Congressman Clyburn is absolutely correct. We are sleepwalking into disaster as a nation. If we allow Trump to shred the Constitution and rip up the guardrails of our democracy we could end up saddled with his fascist, incompetent leadership for the rest of his life.
